Shotcrete Works
Shotcrete works, also known as shotcrete mortar, is a mixture of cement and sand in a ratio of approximately 4:1, to which water is added to achieve a workable consistency. This mixture is forced through a special nozzle and sprayed at high speed onto the surface to be covered.
Elements cast in this way are usually reinforced with steel reinforcing bars or steel mesh, and mineral or synthetic fibers may be added to increase strength and durability. This type of concrete is widely used for slope stabilization, lining, and maintenance work.
What is shotcrete works?
Shotcrete is a fast-setting material used to reinforce and repair structural structures without the need for traditional formwork. The success of its application depends on the perfect coordination between the sprayer, the spraying equipment, and the concrete mix components.
Shotcrete applications
Shotcrete is used in many applications due to its flexibility and economic effectiveness. Its most prominent uses include:
- Stabilization of excavations in mining tunnels, excavation works and slopes.
- Lining tunnels with complex shapes and hard-to-reach places.
- Providing temporary or permanent insulation for old excavation sites, tunnels, and swimming pools.
- Create a carrier layer for insulation membranes.
- Restoration and repair works for damaged concrete in bridges, jetties, roofs and retaining walls.
- Recreational landscape projects such as skate parks.
- Creative and architectural works such as artificial rock formations, statues, and sculptures.
- Create amphitheaters and theaters without the need for traditional coverings or finishing materials such as tiles or marble.
